Celestron CPC Series telescopes are instruments with aplanatic Schmidt-Cassegrain Edge HD optics with a computerized altazimuth fork mount designed for maximum versatility and ease of use combined with the great efficiency and total reliability typical of technologically mature products.

Optical tube and fork – permanently joined – form a very robust system that is easy to transport and mount on the supplied tripod. A CPC DELUXE HD telescope mounts and aligns in minutes with the very fast SkyAlign mode, which does not require recognition of the alignment stars. Celestron CPCs offer a built-in GPS receiver that eliminates the need to manually enter the date, time and exact coordinates of the observation location. The database of 40,000 objects provides the user with an enormous choice of objects to observe or photograph. The fork mount is particularly convenient for astroimaging because it allows very long exposure shots without the problem of meridian inversion. Furthermore, the telescopes of the CPC DELUXE HD series are equipped with redesigned electronics that provide the motors with a stabilized and constant power supply which allows for very precise tracking and high pointing precision even when the instrument is not perfectly balanced.

From an optical point of view, the heart of the CPC 1100 DELUXE HD is the C11 Edge HD. The Edge HD optical system combines the very popular compactness of Schmidt-Cassegrains with newly developed optics featuring high de vane ition that allows you to obtain wide-field images with typical astrograph quality. When used visually, Edge HD optics provide pinpoint star images right to the edges even with 2-inch ultra-wide-angle eyepieces. When used for astroimaging, EdgeHD optics produce aberration-free images across the entire field of view of CCD or DSLR cameras, even in Full Frame format. All EdgeHD optics have been designed to produce a very flat focal plane, generating perfectly focused star images right to the very edge of the sensor. The C11 Edge HD is suitable for both visual and photographic use, and has been designed to be modular, being able to work optimally in focal length ranges between 560 and 12000 mm (with optional accessories, also produced by third parties). The XLT optical treatment enhances the brightness of the optics, also offering very high contrast on both planets and deep sky objects. The Edge HD are also designed for the Fastar system and are equipped with a primary mirror blocking system and micro-filtered side openings to speed up the process of achieving thermal equilibrium of the optics.
